The tinny notes ring out in my dark bedroom. Who the hell is calling me at 3:20 am? Fumbling, I grab my phone, flip it open. Hello? Kristina? Yes? This is the St. Louis County Police Department.
This post is inspired by a prompt from Write on Edge:
For this week’s Red Writing Hood prompt, we’re inviting you to truly scare us.
Here’s what you’ll need to do:
Compose a post in the form of a text–160 characters.
Your text must elicit or express fear.
Though this initially looks like more of a fiction prompt, we challenge our non-fiction writers to take a stab at it as well. (Stab! Scary!)
Come back on Friday, October 21st, to link up.

The call you never want to get!
late night phone calls never bring good news!
The phone ringing in the night has a way of elevating my blood pressure. Very scary!
Talk about a cliff hanger. Way to keep me wondering (and really, really worried)

If the phone rings that late, it can never be good. Much less if it’s the police. 🙂
That’s a terrible call to get in the middle of the night!
calls from the police are almost NEVER good!
Wow, this is definitely a call no one wants to get. Great job.
OOoh, nobody ever wants that call, very scary!
Nothing good can come from this call. Nothing.
Oh yes! Calls like that definitely cause an increase in heart rate.
